Blue Latitude and Econsultancy launch survey

The impact of digital beyond sales and marketing; how digital is transforming the entire organisation

Blue Latitude and Econsultancy are working in partnership to produce a report that will explore ‘The impact of digital beyond sales and marketing; how digital is transforming the entire organisation’.  The report will be based on a survey of Econsultancy’s senior client side members, along with a series of interviews with a number of senior marketers and business leaders that will take place between April and May 2010.

The survey was launched at Econsultancy’s Digital Cream event, where Blue Latitude hosted a roundtable exploring the business challenges delegates faced in ‘managing digital channels’.  The survey, will investigate in more detail some of the issues raised at the conference, including:

  • What areas of business is digital having an impact other than sales and marketing?  For example what role is it playing in PR, customer service, product development, customer insight etc.
  • Where does e-commerce / digital ‘sit’ within your organisation’s hierarchy? What knowledge and expectations are there at board level to make the business think digitally and succeed in the digital world?
  • How do you get, educate and retain the best digital talent and build digital knowledge within your organisation?
  • How are you benchmarking your performance?  What does ‘good’ look like in your sector?
  • What role does social media or mobile play in your organisation?  How do you not get carried away by the hype?

The output of the survey will be an essential read for both those involved in managing digital channels and senior management who are trying to make their businesses think and behave digitally.  It will give practical advice on how to organisations can change their thinking, behaviours, business models, products and services, structures and processes to exploit digital channels and gain competitive advantage.

Specifically, it will aim to answer questions about KPIs, team and organisational structures, budgeting, skills, strategy and planning processes.

If you would like to take part in the survey or be notified when the report will be published in June, please email sophie.berger@bluelatitude.net.  We look forward to sharing our findings with you.
